Vacant, Housing & Zoning Inspector

The Housing & Zoning Office handles a variety of situations such as:

  • Residential Certificates of Occupancy
  • Zoning Permits
  • Zoning & Land Use Questions
  • Zoning Violations

We currently have a vacancy for housing inspector. You may be asked to show property over phone on video, before final inspection is scheduled. Note that if you do not pass inspection, re-inspection may take up to three weeks to reschedule, until the borough hires for the position.

Fees

  • Certificate of Occupancy – $50.00
  • Re-inspection – $50.00 (first one is free)
  • Zoning Permit Application – $10.00

Items to be inspected include: sidewalks, driveways, fences, trees, sanitation, grading and drainage, natural growth, exhaust vents, discharge of sump pumps, accessory structures and ground surface hazards. The cost of inspection is $50, due prior to inspection. Here are common documents that are helpful. Please refer to these documents when preparing for a zoning approval application. When do you need zoning approval? [This is not a complete list]:

  • Installing a fence
  • Installing a pool
  • Installing solar panels
  • Opening a new business that is different than the type of business previously there
  • Opening a new business after building was vacant for one year/365 days or more
  • When you want to use a food truck

$25 Zoning App Fee

Starting May 2, 2022 the borough will increase the Zoning Application fee to $25.

This is similar cost to apps throughout New Jersey.
